Hello A. Murray, thank's a lot for your suggestions.
How do I back up my sites without Akeeba? Simply making regular downloads of the db's from my hosting space.
All the joomla files are replicated in my local space under laragon.
Precisely using laragon (and phpMyAdmin or HeidiSQL) I have been learning locally to migrate db's from mysql to MariaDB, using exactly the method you suggested.
My question is whether the method you suggest is also okay with the reverse process, that is, from MariaDB to mysql.
In fact on the web I found many threads talking about possible incompatibilities.
